This file contains both presentations delivered during the CINNUG .Net 3.0 Community Launch on Feb. 20th, 2007. There is a presentation on Windows Communication Foundation and one on Windows Workflow Foundation.
Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) is Microsoft’s new platform for developing distributed applications. It is a unification of the existing communication technologies, like Remoting and web services, into a single, simplified programming model. This presentation will introduce you to WCF. We will touch upon a wide number of topics including the ABCs of WCF (Address, Binding, and Contracts), hosting services, security, integration and extensibility.
As part of the .Net 3.0 set of technologies Microsoft has released Windows Workflow(WF). WF supplies a workflow engine, developer SDK, and distributable components to allow developers to develop business and process oriented applications that can be dynamically updated and changed as the business rules do. WF can be used to write applications that handle business processes like expense report approval, or be used within an application to handle navigation. This presentation will be an introduction to WF, its capabilities and extensibility points. We'll cover activities, runtime services and using workflows as web services, plus show both sequential and state machine workflows examples.
