Welcome to the blog for the Cincinnati .Net Users Group.

Looking for Study Group Leader Volunteers

A few meetings ago I asked if people would be interested in having study groups offered through the user group.  We had quite a few hands go up, so I'm now asking for volunteers to help run some study groups.  I'm starting a new Study Group forum on the CINNUG site to help get this going.  Here is what I envision as a study group:

  • A group of CINNUG members interested in obtaining a shared study goal.  A study goal could be a certification, passing a specific exam or learning a new technology.
  • The group can decide to meet separately from the User Group meetings or simply communicate online via the forums (I can create a new forum for each group if we want), newsgroups or email.
  • The group would have a study group leader to help keep everyone on track.
  • The group is a community effort, meaning that everyone in the group should be helping get to the end goal.

I see the role of the study group leader as someone who:

  • Ensures that the group stays on track for the study goal.
  • Helps facilitate communication between the group members.
  • Moderates, or facilitates the study group meetings if there are any.
  • Compiles the study resources found by the group.

If you are looking to pass an exam in the future then being a study group leader for that goal is a good way to give you lots of incentive to reach your goal.  If you are interested, please contact me through the site contact form: http://cinnug.org/blogs/blog/contact.aspx.

MAX Train has volunteered to provide some insight into the new certification paths that Microsoft has started, as well provide a list of resources of the classes they offer that will help you reach those certifications.
