Welcome to the blog for the Cincinnati .Net Users Group.

March 2007 - Posts

  • MS Free E-Learning

Drew Robbins, our regional Developer Evangelist (DE), has sent out some love to the user groups in the form of Free E-Learning.  All you have to do is sign up by April 15th, but it sounds like you can have access to the material after that date.  Check out instructions over in the Coffee House Forum.
  • March 2007 Meeting Recap

Starting with this blog post, a few days after each meeting I will post the announcements that were included on the pre-meeting slides so that people that don't make the meetings can see what's going on.  I'll also include a link to related session material and announce the next topic when possible.  Please provide feedback if you feel this is a valuable service or not.

    Last Meeting (Attedance 30)

Topic: Stefan Kyntchev gave his talk on Code Generation using Guidance Automation Toolkit at the meeting on March 20th.  The slide deck for his presentation is now out on the downloads section of the site.

  • Code Camp Schedule is posted!

The Code Camp is just next week!  We've posted a schedule of the sessions on the sessions page.  Plan out your day, and if you haven't registered, then why not?  It's free and local!  Get signed up ASAP!

There is a TON of SWAG to be handed out and twice as much knowledge to be gained just by showing up and being there.

The second annual Code Camp wouldn't be possible without our major Contributors: DevExpress (www.devexpress.com); Max Technical Training (www.maxtrain.com); Robert Half International (www.rhi.com); Quick Solutions (www.quicksolutions.com); Pillar Technology (http://www.pillartechnology.com); Syncfusion (www.syncfusion.com);  and Pinnacle Solutions Group (http://www.pinnsg.com/).

  • Why attend a User Group meeting?

Paul Kimmel has an article over at CodeGuru that speaks to this very issue.  He's the President and co-founder of the Greater Lansing (Michigan) area .Net Users Group.  Check it out and see if you agree.  If you've never been to a user group meeting, try coming to one next week.  Our User Group meets on next Tuesday (March 20th).  If you live a little further north of Cincinnati then you may want to try the Dayton .Net Developers Group on Wednesday, March 28th.
  • Come to a CINNUG meeting and get discounted training from MAX

MAX Technical Traning, a sponsor of CINNUG has offered to give a "Friends and Family" discount to attendees of any DevCares, CINJUG, CINNUG, or Dayton .Net Developers User Groups.  All you have to do is show up to one of the groups listed and make sure you sign in.  Then register online, or over the phone, for a class between March 9th and April 30th to get a 15% discount off your class!  The class itself doesn't have to be within those dates, you just have to sign up sometime during that period.  This is a "Friends and Family" discount, so the class can be used to register you co-worker, spouse, child, friend or maybe even your boss.

DevCares: April 13th at Max in Mason, 9:00 AM-1:00 AM - Next Topic: IIS 7
CINJUG: March 19th at Max in Mason, 6:00 PM-9:00 PM - Next Topic: "Sexy Web Apps (Flex & Java)"
CINNUG: March 20th at Max in Mason, 6:00 PM-8:00 PM - Next Topic: Into to Code Generation with Guidance Automated Toolkit
Dayton .Net Developers: March 28th at Max in Miamisburg, 6:00PM

    [ EDIT 3/15 ]

MAX is putting on some developer focused classes soon, so that 15% discount may come in real handy!  Check out the list:

Team Development with Visual Studio Team System, April 30th- May 3rd
Developing ASP.Net AJAX Applications, April 19th-20th
Developing SharePoint 2007 Applications, April 26th-27th

  • Code Camp Sessions Announced!

We know have the final session list for the Code Camp on March 24th.  Check out the sessions and great speakers we have lined up over on the Sessions page.  We'll get a schedule posted up as soon as we get one finalized.  If you've registered for the Code Camp then you'll soon be getting a request to fill out a survey that will help us determine the schedule.  Based on popularity of sessions from the survey we can try to make sure that the most popular sessions don't run at the same time and that we select the correct room (based on size) to host the session in.  If you get a survey request, please do take the time to fill it out.

If you haven't registered for Code Camp, why not?  It's free!  It's a great way to spend a Saturday!  If you sign up ASAP you'll probably be getting a copy of the survey and get a say in what sessions are delivered when.

Code Camp wouldn't be possible without our Contributors:
DevExpress (www.devexpress.com); Max Technical Training (www.maxtrain.com); Robert Half International (www.rhi.com); Syncfusion (www.syncfusion.com); Quick Solutions (www.quicksolutions.com); and Pinnacle Solutions Group (http://www.pinnsg.com/)

Have feedback about the Code Camp?  Post on the Code Camp forum, or contact us via our contact form.
